It’s almost a given that a newborn’s mom will be sleep deprived as babies usually don’t have any set sleeping hours. They might just wake up in the middle of the night and you might have to pull out the best of lullabies to send your baby back to sleep. Alternatively, you may buy a good baby swing to out less stress on your vocal cord during odd hours.
Here are some baby sleep tips if you are looking for night-time survival strategies.

Do Not Make an Eye Contact with Your Baby
You might have your own tricks up your sleeves that work almost always. However, it is advisable that you do not establish eye contact with your kid. Why? This is because if your kid looks at your eyes, it’s like feeding him or her double espresso.
Your baby’s pulse rate instantly picks up speed and he or she becomes all the more awake all of a sudden. Do make eye contact during the day so that your baby gets the signal that it’s time for staying awake.
Regulate the Room Temperature
While your baby may enjoy rocking back and forth on a sturdy baby swing with harness, you might want to amplify the comfort level. Keep the room warm during the day and just the opposite during night time. The best temperature for infant sleep is between 650F and 700F. You should keep in mind that the room must not get too hot or too cold.
Use Dimmers if You Can
Use dimmers to regulate the light so that your baby’s biological clock can be regulated. Lower the lights when the Sun goes down. Keep the room brightly lit during the day.
Make Some Noise
It might sound a little weird, but it’s a fact that babies love loud noise. Why is it so? This is because they got accustomed to loud noise while in mother’s womb (yes, it’s pretty noisy there). Therefore, try not to give the silent treatment. Use nature sounds or turn on the radio or use a toy for creating sounds.
Reduce Your Caffeine Intake
Too much of anything is bad for your health. Similarly, if you consume caffeine and soda too much, these things will mix with your breast milk. As a result, the newborn will get affected. The stimulation stays with your baby for about three days, which is enough to deprive your kid from sufficient shut-eye.
Cut the Interval
From around 5 pm, you need to shorten the gap between the feedings. For instance, if you feed your baby two hours, reduce it to one hour starting at 5 pm. This will give your kid a full stomach, which in turn will help in sound sleep. Also, you may swing your kid before feeding him or her. Use a mix of swing and feeding to send your baby to sleep at the right time.
Give the Diaper Some Rest
Many moms think that they need to change the diaper after each feeding. If the diaper is not soiled or soaked and/or your baby has a super-sensitive skin, you need not do it every too often. You may just use absorbent diapers that are easily available in stores. You may also apply diaper cream to protect your baby’s tender skin from diaper rash.
Do Not Worry if Your Baby Doesn’t Burp
Many babies tend not to burp too irregularly. You should not wait for the burp. What happens is that babies eat a little slowly at night. Therefore, they swallow less air. Skip this step and see how well your kid sleeps without that gust of air.
Use the Bottle
If your baby wakes up too often, you may share the responsibility with your spouse by pumping your breast milk in a bottle and then using that bottle to feed your baby. This way, you can share the night shift with your partner.
Can You Give a Spa Treatment?
This again may seem a little strange, but you can actually send your baby to sound sleep sooner than usual by giving him or her good bedtime message. Researchers at Miami School of Medicine have found that newborns that get a good spa treatment fall asleep sooner than others.
You may use moderate pressure, slow strokes and any message oil certified safe for babies.
Bring the Swing into The Mix
Babies love to rock back and forth. They love the rhythm and motion. Therefore, you can use a good portable baby swing under a budget to give your baby a good swing. This will soon send him or her to sound sleep. Do not forget that a baby swing is just an aid in making a kid fall asleep faster. You should also try the tips you can find above so that your baby gets a good night of sleep.
